In all honesty, it looks very familiar, but I believe it was used in at least one sci-fi movie. I can't find any reference to it, but I know that I've seen it, and I also think I've seen smaller circles included over the triangles (as if they were an abstract body). I'll keep looking, but I feel it is a fairly recent addition. Beyond that, if I had to guess, I would say that it was probably a Christian symbol or some adaptation thereof, probably representing the trinity. Or, possibly it could be an alchemical symbol, but it seems a bit too minimalist and abstract for ancient symbolism. I would go with my first impression, that it was a symbol used in some science fiction movie or show.
